Guo Neng, founder and general manager of Celluranics, a high-tech start-up company, is mainly engaged in the R&D and commercialization of degradable bio-based polymer materials. He received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from University of Science and Technology of China in 2001, and his Ph.D. degree in chemistry (inorganic chemistry and polymer material chemistry) from Northwestern University in the United States in 2007. From 2007 to 2010, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Argonne National Lab under the U.S. Department of Energy. ; From 2010 to 2018, he worked in the US branch of BP's downstream business, and as the general project leader, he led a large R&D team covering catalyst design, synthesis, characterization, small-scale device testing, and process development in BP's petrochemical business. Produces renewable ethylene glycol from cellulose; while in the commercial sector, participated in the acquisition of a competitor's licensing arm; was responsible for the development of a licensing financial model to guide commercial negotiations with clients around the world.
